Scholarship Coverage

The Simmons University Kotzen Scholarship aims to provide its students with the following benefits:

  • The scholarship covers the full tuition fees of its students
  • Mandatory fees
  • The scholarship makes provision for rooms and boards
  • An additional annual award of $3000 is given to students to study abroad
  • Summer internship tuition
  • Short-term courses or research support

The duration of this scholarship is for a four-year period of full-time undergraduate studies and it usually supersedes any previously awarded merits scholarship.

A student who meets the following criteria is usually awarded a scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria for Simmons University Kotzen Scholarship

Students that have intentions of applying for this scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  • Required language: English
  • Eligible Countries: All Nationalities
  • A standardized test score of 28 or higher (ACT), 1300 or higher (new SAT) or 1250 or higher (old SAT-CR+M). A minimum of 600 in each SAT section is strongly recommended.
  • Applicants must apply as a freshman before the fall
  • Non-native English speakers will be required to submit their English language proficiency test (TOEFL, SAT or ACT)
  • A GPA of 3.3 or higher.

How to Apply for Simmons University Kotzen Scholarships

To apply for this scholarship, please follow the following application steps that we’ve outlined below:

Applicants will have to complete their scholarship application form and submit it before the stated deadline, December 1st.

Application for this scholarship consists of two parts, a short answer and a formal essay. Students will be required to submit their application via the email address ugadm@simmons.edu using “Kotzen Application” as the subject of the mail.

The candidate will be requested to answer these questions:

  • Short Answer (Not more than 250 words): How would you make use of your additional $3000 for studies abroad, short-term course, summer internship tuition and/or research support)?
  • Formal Essay (Not more than 500 words): In what manner can a woman most effectively lead change in today’s world?

Interview: Students that make it to the final will be required to complete an on-campus interview which is usually conducted in February. If you are an international student and you are unable to make it to the campus, a Skype interview will be conducted instead.
